Here’s how we work.
First, you’ll need to complete a 4 page intake form that will give me…
- Your basic vital and contact info
- Your goals
- Your family situation
- Your financial situation
From there I can whether or not a basic will plan can be appropriate.
I can send you to a youtube video that you watch and you’ll complete a worksheet that goes along with the video.
I don’t do a will only. I always include a durable power of attorney, designation of healthcare surrogate, and living will. Without these legal instruments, then you could face a very expensive court guardianship that could have been prevent. These instruments go out of date quickly as well.
Attorneys’ fees for everything start $400, but your situation has to be really simple and you have to very organized. This includes 60 minutes of total attorney meeting time plus drafting.
Most fees are between $650 to $1000 for the basic will plan. Married couples will be on the higher end. The $650 fee includes 90 minutes of total attorney meeting time plus drafting.
The process usually works like this:
- I review your intake form and quote a fee range.
- You complete the worksheet and watch any appropriate videos we direct you to.
- You return the worksheet before your first meeting.
- We start on the first draft.
- At the first meeting, we go over your worksheet and resolve any questions, concerns, or any “stuck” places.
- I’ll finish the drafts.
- We have either a second meeting or, depending on time, we can review the drafts together.
- I’ll make any revisions needed.
- You’ll review the revisions; and
- You’ll sign.
Fees will be higher if you would rather take home drafts to review and you send back changes. If you want to review
After signing, I will return your original documents back to you after we scan them. You’ll also receive a disk or email with PDF copies of your planning documents.
I have limited spaces each month for basic will planning. So if you call, please do be put off if we have to schedule you a month in advance.
